Snakey Osage Bow with Boa Constrictor 50#@29"

A snakey Osage bow is made from a stave that has naturally wavy grain. The grain is followed meticulously to give the bow strength and integrity as well as striking character. This bow is 66” long and pulls 50#@29”. It is backed with kangaroo rawhide to further enhance the durability of the bow. Over the rawhide is a beautiful boa constrictor skin that reaches from one tip to the other. The handle riser is maple burl with rich character that contrasts nicely with the color of the osage. The tip overlays are white-tail deer antler. The bow is ambidexterous and can be shot off either side. The string is D97 with mink fur silencers.


Osage Orange Longbow 55# at 28"

This an American Flatbow with lots of character. The tips are buffalo horn, the handle wrap in leather with calf lace. The finish is eight coats of tru-oil and the string is fastflight. The person who bought this bow went on to become a good friend and an accomplished bowyer.


Osage Character Bow with Brush Nocks and Stingray Handle 53#@28"

This bow started with an osage stave full of character. It is 64" long and pulls 53#@28". The tips have brush nocks made of yew heartwood and sheephorn and overlays of deer antler. The handle wrap is made from stingray leather and stitched with kangaroo lace. The finish is eight coats of tru oil polished to a satin glow. The string is D97 with otter fur silencers.


Osage Bow with Sturgeon Accents 45#@28"

A unique bow with striking features, this bow combines a flawless osage stave with sturgeon skin accents, a tanned beaver tail handle wrap and buffalo horn overlays carefully carved to look like arrowheads. It is 64" long and pulls 45#@28". It has a smooth draw and a quick, snappy cast. It would be a perfect deer hunting bow or an everyday shooter.


"Compadre" Yew Take-down Recurve

This is a bow that I made for myself as a hunting bow. It is made from a pair of yew billets that were gifted to me by a friend. It is 64" long and pulls 58# @ 26". The take down sleeves were purchased from Echo Archery as was the deer rawhide backing. The tips are sheep horn. The handle wrap is leather with calf lace done in John Strunk's style. This bow was Primitive Archer's May 2014 Bow of the Month.

I named it "Compadre" to represent all of the generosity and goodwill that I have received from my friends in this craft, especially with the materials to make this bow.


Osage Recurve with Copperhead Skins 62#@30"

This is a static recurve self bow made from osage orange and backed with copperhead skins with hand painted borders. It is 66" long and pulls 62#@30". The handle wrap is tanned beaver tail with kangaroo lace. and the tip overlays are buffalo horn.


Sturgeon-backed Yew Bow 47#@26"

This was a custom bow made from a premium stave of Pacific yew. The bow is 66" long and pulls 47#@26". It's backed with sturgeon skin, both for aesthetics and for durability. The handle wrap is tanned beaver tail and the tip overlays are buffalo horn. It is finished with tru oil and the string is D97 fastflight.


Pacific Yew Longbow 50# at 28"

This bow was commissioned as an anniversary/birthday gift for a husband of a friend. It is a Pacific yew longbow that is 50# @ 28". It is 67" long for nock to nock. The tips are buffalo horn, the hand wrap is leather with calf lace and the string is fastflight.
