Snaky Osage Bow with Rattlesnake 48#@28” $2000
This bow, made from a naturally snaky-grained Osage stave, is 66” long and pulls 48#@28”. It is backed with Western diamondback rattlesnake skins. The tip overlays are white-tailed deer antler and the handlewrap is beaver tail leather.
Osage Selfbow with Wolffish 42#@28” $1700
This bow is made from Osage orange and is backed with wolffish skins. The bow is 64” long and pulls 42#@28” The handle wrap is beaver tail leather with ambidextrous arrow passes. The riser is maple burl and the tip overlays (sidelays?) are buffalo horn.
Ironwood (Ostyra Virginiana) Viking style Hedeby Bow 46#@29” $1500
This bow is made from hophornbeam aka ironwood, and is modelled after a viking bow found in the Hedeby archaeological site of Hedeby. The bow is 68” long and pulls 46#@29”. The belly of the bow was heat tempered and the wood was stained with natural walnut husk dye. The handle wrap is leather lace with an ambidextrous beaver tail arrow pass.
Osage Essential Bows $900
I’m proud to introduce a new line of Swiftwood Bows, the Osage Essential. I have become quite efficient at making a particular design of straight-limbed osage self bow and decided that I would pass along the benefits of that efficiency to you to create a more affordable way to own and shoot a Swiftwood Bow.
Instead of listing and pricing each of these similar bows individually I decided to bring them together here to keep things more simple. Unless otherwise noted, every Osage Essential bow is an Osage selfbow, with straight limbs, self nocks, an arrow rest and a deer leather handlewrap. They are hand crafted by me with the same care and attention to detail that you would expect in any other of my bows.
They are hunt worthy, with a time tested design and finely tuned tiller. They meet all the specifications for the “Selfbow Class” for 3D shoot competitions and can be a great way to get started competing in a new class.
Osage Essential bows come with my full warranty, a D97 flemish twist string, a handmade bow sock and free shipping in a sturdy PVC tube, just like any other Swiftwood Bow. If you are left handed or need a draw length outside the range of what you see available please reach out and I will make a custom Osage Essential bow for the same $900 price to accommodate your needs if at all possible.
